It’s not like i don’t like Transformers, I certainly like the concept, I love the engineering of the toys and I did grew up watching the cartoons (i am the only person i know who liked ‘Robots in Disguise’), but back when i was a kid my parents never really got me any transformers toys* beyond a couple of Beast Wars, so I never really got into the Toy line. To be fair, Transformers is not as big in my country as it is in other places, hell, i know far more G.I. Joe collectors than Transformers collectors, but still, this is a franchise that I like and yet i have never been particularly passionate about.
*Note: It’s okay, my parents did get me a bunch of Batmen, so i do not recent them in any way.
On that note, has there ever been a Toy line or franchise that you like but that you have never really gotten into due to the whims of that fickle Lady known as Fate?
And because I literally don’t know any other way to end an e-mail, BONUS CRACK QUESTION:
If due to a series of unexpected events that may or may not involve a magic amulet your life suddenly became the plot of that classic 90’s movie ‘Face-Off‘ (starring John Travolta and Nicolas Cage), which toy from your collection would you like to trade faces with? In case you wonder, yes, you could trade your entire head depending on the toy and your new face would be completely functional, as in you could use it to eat, breath and, in the case of your new head having some sort of cannon attached, shot people with it.
Perpetually envious of Travolta´s 90´s hair, Ivanhobe, The Extraordinary Fanboy.
Hi guys, greetings from Manila. It’s my first time to write to the show, and I have discovered your podcast during the early 50’s episode.
I just wanted to comment about your Devastating rant regarding a certain scalper of Devastator.
I agree that scalping has been in the collecting world for the longest time, and people really have to accept that people being, will still do it no matter what.
Now of course I don’t know the guy who did it personally, but my take away from it is that he did it with malicious intent of putting one over other people with his knowledge of supply and demand, but for convention exclusives, acquiring items on there, takes a tantamount of time and effort. People should accept that the person would want to be compensated for the efforts he went through to get the items.
In the end I just want to back to people’s freedom. You are right that what Devy Scalper is not illegal. It is his freedom to do it, but he also needs to accept that he will be called out by other people, because it is also their freedom to speak out their opinions. I hope to any other collectors who are listening; be the better person and help a brother/sister out, instead of being to profit minded. It sucks Craig got booted out in a group for stating what I think is a level headed opinion, be it being on the other side of the fence. But hey you guys have your show and they don’t so…
I am not sure if this was asked already, but I’ll ask anyway: If you were to make an action figure of yourself which company would do you? (Bandai, Hasbro etc)
Under what toy line do you want to be under? (SH FIguarts, Transformers, Lego etc.)
What scale? What gimmick will your action figure have?
As for me I want to be 3.75 inch figure. GI Joe articulation would be enough for me. As for the gimmick, I want to be under the Dino riders or MASK toy line. That way my figure will also come with its own vehicle.
Thanks for being awesome guys!
